Changeover to new supplier starts this month!
Tridium has updated the JACE-8000 product package with a new micro-SD card supplier. All new factory units now ship with Version 4.0 micro-SD cards. This change affects new orders only, existing deployed units with Version 3.0 cards are unaffected.
Minimum software requirement:
New JACE units with Version 4.0 micro-SD cards require Niagara 4 version 4.9.1 or higher. Earlier versions of Niagara 4 will not run on these updated packages.
Upcoming SD Card Surcharge & FRS Pricing Support
Tridium has introduced a micro-SD card surcharge of $22 per unit with limited advance notice.
To help customers plan for this unexpected cost increase, Forest Rock Support is absorbing all or part of this surcharge depending on when your order is received and despatched.
We recognise that this surcharge has arrived with very little notice from Tridium. The tiered structure we have designed should help to give you a soft landing, allowing you to plan for the increase in costs without it landing unexpectedly on live projects. We strongly encourage placing and confirming orders before 30 April 2026 to take full advantage of our Tier 1 Support.

ℹ️ No functional difference: Version 3.0 and Version 4.0 cards are functionally identical. Version 3.0 cards are not limited in their ability to run newer versions of Niagara.
Key Dates
November 29, 2022 - JAVA vendor change
Initial communication issued to the Niagara community regarding upcoming JACE-8000 package updates.
August 3, 2023 - Version 4.0 part numbers go live
New Version 4.0 part numbers became available for ordering. List price matches existing Version 3.0 pricing, plus the newly introduced $22 SD card surcharge.
April 30, 2026 - Tier 1 order deadline
Last date to place an order and qualify for full FRS surcharge cover ($22 absorbed), provided despatch occurs by 31 May 2026.
May 31, 2026 - Final supported despatch date
All orders despatched after this date will carry the full $22 surcharge regardless of order date.
Ordering and Replacements
✅ Version 3.0 cards remain available for RMA and replacements. We will maintain a stock of Version 3.0 cards for RMA and replacements. Contact Forest Rock Sales Team to place an order. Version 4.0 part numbers and pricing can also be confirmed through your sales representative.
If you are unsure which card version a unit requires, check the label colour on the installed card, white indicates Version 3.0, green indicates Version 4.0 and verify the installed Niagara version before any swap.
Recommended Actions

Place orders before 30 April 2026 to take advantage of full FRS surcharge absorption under Tier 1.

Ensure all JACE deployments receiving new units are running Niagara 4.9.1 or higher before installation.

Identify any sites with legacy Niagara versions and plan upgrades accordingly before new hardware arrives.

If Version 3.0 replacement cards are needed for existing RMA units, contact support before ordering to confirm part numbers.

Keep Niagara deployments under your supervision up-to-date and secure as a general best practice.
