RAC18-IP - OS - Problems with outdated versions

Issue Summary

On OS versions earlier than V1.4.1, several major issues may occur on the RAC18-IP controller:

  • Communication with network points (Local I/O, Modbus, BACnet) is interrupted.

  • “Hard fault” messages appear in system logs.

  • Unexpected device restarts.

  • Problems performing read/write actions on Modbus or BACnet points.

Symptoms

  • Loss of data updates from connected devices.

  • Frequent controller reboots without warning.

  • Error logs showing “hard fault” entries.

  • Inability to reliably read or write Modbus/BACnet points.

Root Cause

The installed OS version contains critical errors that affect communication and stability.

When Does This Occur?

This issue typically occurs when:

  • Controllers running OS versions earlier than V1.4.1.

  • Systems that have not been updated after initial commissioning.

Solution

1. Download the latest version of iC Tool from:
Software - iSMA CONTROLLI Download Center > Software & Tools > iC Tool > Software

  • Install the updated iC Tool on your PC.

  • Launch iC Tool and connect to the RAC18-IP controller.

  • Use Software Manager to upgrade the OS and libraries to the latest version.

Prevention

  • Always update the OS and libraries before commissioning or after factory reset.

  • Regularly check for updates on the iSMA CONTROLLI support portal.
